Mackay Ring Road
Summit was engaged by CPB Contractors to supply embankment fill, rock products, and road base for Stage 1 of the Mackay Ring Road project.
This contract involved the supply of up to approximately 2 million tonnes of embankment and pavement materials, delivered at a rate of 11,000 tonne per day. Materials came from multiple quarries each day. This is just one of many Quarry Projects related to roadworks in the region.
To cater for the large daily volume of product, we increased our fleet of company owned side tippers and truck and dog combinations to ensure that there was no interruption to supply.
NQBP Armour Rock Supply
Summit was engaged by Mackay Bulk Ports to supply Armour Rock to be used for repairs to the Mackay Harbour Breakwater.
The rock was blasted and sorted to meet the size specifications. A total of 11,000 tonne was supplied in three classifications of 1.6 tonne – 3.5 tonne, 3.5 tonne – 5.5 tonne and 5.5 tonne – 8 tonne.
Bucasia Road
This project’s scope involved the duplication of 3.6 kilometres of Mackay-Bucasia Road. It was imperative that traffic interruption was kept to a minimum due to the large amount of commuters that use the road each day.
Approximately 150,000 tonne of fill was imported from Summit Quarries for the road embankment, all meeting Main Roads specifications.
Special work included constructing an overpass over the existing rail line, duplication of the existing road to make this four lanes and extending the drainage system. Underboring was required to run pipes under the existing rail line.
Sichter Street Reconstruction
Summit was engaged to supply the rock for the reconstruction of Sichter Street after major flooding eroded the river bank.
Approximately 6,000 tonnes of rock was supplied and delivered to site to remediate the bank so that the local access road could be reconstructed.
Hay Point Roundabout
Summit supplied all materials for the Hay Point Roundabout construction on the Bruce Highway.
The contract called for the supply and delivery of 50,000 tonnes of road embankment material, 10,000 tonnes of road base and 25,000 tonnes of plant mixed stablized Type 2.1 and Type 2.3 materials.
